Looking good means different things to different people but I think most women will tell you that they feel good when there is balance in life and when they think they look good.
Like many women my skin changed with menopause, and I guess this changed how I felt about myself. As I have fair skin and freckles the things that I noticed the most was my pigmentation seemed darker, that my skin looked dull and that the scars on my face from having skin cancers removed seemed to look more prominent. My skin seemed dry and dull. I was looking to brighten my skin and have a more even texture. I am not talking about chasing youth or magazine air brushed perfection but about feeling good about how I look.
I had never been to a cosmetic skin clinic, and I thought that they were for people who wanted big lips and over filled cheeks. I am lucky enough that Nurse Shelby is my daughter so my introduction to cosmetic skin clinics was to support my daughter. I soon learned that the nurses listened to my concerns and that there is great confidence in knowing that a medical professional is recommending treatments best suited to you. It is not a one size fits all approach and it is reassuring to know that treatments are being done in a safe and professional way. I wanted help with dull skin, to help soften my scars and pigmentation and even out my skin tone and texture and my treatment plan and my new medical grade skincare resulted in me feeling better with healthy looking skin.
I had never used medical grade skincare, honestly, I did not use much skincare at all, and I have started using some great skincare that was chosen for me by nurses, beautiful medical professionals who can guide you through every step to achieve the results that you want.
I had started to wear more makeup to cover the dull skin but as I felt better in my own skin I started to wear less and less and now I like to wear tinted suncream as a base, how great is it to have your suncream and “foundation” in one easy step and to have a more natural look especially as you get older.
I live on the coast now and this new life we have created is about enjoying nature and being happy. It is about having time for us and about being part of a community. When you put your best face forward and feel confident about how you look, I believe this filters to everything in your everyday life. I love to be happy and find that I am happiest when I feel confident. I know that I have nurses who I can talk to about any skin concerns and that they will continue to give me the best advice.
I have seen many people come into the clinic and receive support from the nurses for so many different concerns and have had the privilege to see the confidence and smiles grow in many of those people, to watch the relationships and trust develop between the nurses with their clients, and I have realised that often happiness for an individual comes from how they feel about themselves.
